How long is membership with SW?

Membership is valid for 1 year thereafter you can re-register for another year at a reduced rate 

What does the R130 cover?

The R130 is for your membership for the year, membership card and SW Puma t-shirt which you'll need for  certain promotions

How long does the registration process take?

Regstration takes about 30min including filling in your particulars and the short interview

Is there training?

All promotions involve a briefing and many in store promotions require an once off product training and tastings

What is the Induction Workshop mentioned in the Registration forms?

It’s a briefing on the SW (Studentwise) work rules and processes which will usually take place at the same time as, or directly after, your interview 

How soon can I start working?

As soon as you've registered! (depending on job availability)

When do I get paid?

Payment is made into your bank account on the Friday following the week you work (except at our Bloemfontein branch). So if you work Monday to Sunday this week - next week Friday you'll receive all the money you earned the week before

Do I have to have my own bank account for the wages to be paid into?

Yes you do

Can I get work in the field in which I'm studying?

There are work opportunities to get experience in certain fields, particularly marketing; however Isilumko Staffing also offers part time work opportunities to those still studying

Can I get a reference from Studentwise and how long do I have to work for SW before they will give me a written reference?

Our members can get references from us if they have worked a minimum of 4 jobs but must please request the reference within 6 months of their last job 

Can I register if I'm finished matric and am taking a gab year?

Definitely – as long as you've qualified to do a tertiary qualification

Can I work for other promotional agencies as well?

No, as you may end up working on competitor brands!

How old do I have to be to register?

No specific age is required

Can I become a member even if I am only doing a 1 year diploma?

Yes

What do I have to wear for the jobs?

Each job requires you to wear different clothing specific to the work but the dress code will be confirmed when we contact you for the work

Do I get petrol money if the job is out of town and can I get this money before the job commences?

It can be arranged if requested 24hrs before the work but we prefer not to in case you fall ill and can’t work!!

Do I pay VAT or taxes on my wages?

No VAT; however you may be taxable if you work a large number of hours in one week BUT you can claim this back from SARS if you don’t fall into a tax bracket over a full year of work
