Brand activations and sampling have long been known for their potential to boost product sales, so when the much loved South African brand Coco Pops teamed up with Isilumko Media, specialists in the activations field, the results achieved were extraordinary.  The Coco Pops Cereal Bar activation campaign ran for 8 weeks between February and April 2010 in five of South Africa’s main metropolitan regions; Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Pretoria and Johannesburg.  

International visitors are being exposed to the tangible excitement, mounting national spirit and overall fanaticism that currently surrounds the approaching kick-off of Africa’s first FIFA World Cup event.  Escalating hype aside, opportunities continue to multiply for the average South African on the ground; not excluding the youth.  

After the FIFA World Cup opening match, it’s apparent that Bafana Bafana have been holding out and have finally begun to expose their hidden talents; but theirs is not the only talent that could be considered a national secret. With effect from 1 June 2010, Isilumko proudly brings a past business partner into the Isilumko stable. The new promotion and corporate gifting company, Isilumko Gifts & Gear, will be headed up by historical owner (and now MD of the new business) Paul Milford.  

Isilumko Media are proud to welcome Lenay Schoeman to their Port Elizabeth team.  Schoeman has moved over from Bayside Mall where she was a Marketing Manager to become Isilumko Media’s Senior Campaign Coordinator in the Eastern Cape.

There is just one month until the much anticipated World Cup kicks off and we’ve come across some uncertainty regarding the FIFA 2010 advertising regulations and how they will affect the less obvious media types like ours: below-the-line OOH media, activations and promotions. You’ll be pleased to hear the impact will be minimal.

Last week we pushed off with an exciting cart race activation for the launch new Blue Ice variety, Pure Ice with menthol, in Johannesburg. The full turnkey campus activations will run in the Western Cape, Gauteng, Zwa-zulu Natal and the Free State.
